Ten Reasons to Make a Contribution to My Sisters' Place
1. Hope
For nearly 25 Years My Sisters' Place has been offering hope and support to homeless victims in the Greater Hartford area.
2. Responsive
MSP was the first shelter to respond to the needs of homeless women and their children by providing a shelter that accepted infants directly from the hospital.
3. Accessible
MSP operates 3 separate facilities, i.e., a 24-hour emergency shelter, a transitional living program, and supportive housing.
4. Diverse
MSP conducts 14 additional programs which include: housing and fiduciary assistance, support for children aging out of DCF, and assistance for those who have mental disabilities.
5. Support
MSP's Life Skills Program and Counseling Services are so effective that 90% of the women and families in our care are able to lead stable and productive lives once they leave MSP. Last year we provided solace and hope for 750 individuals.
6. Youth Services
Our youth programs are an essential part of the recovery process for the children who have been victims of homelessness. MSP's youth programs provide organized play groups, field trips, arts and craft projects, holiday celebrations and birthday parties.
7. Necessities
MSP provides the warmth of a home, clothing, diapers, food and supportive services. MSP's programs operate 365 days of the year.
8. Exceptional Staff
Our highly qualified staff and case managers not only provide support for the women and children in our care, they also serve as mentors and advocates. The strong message they receive is, 'They are loved and they matter.'
9. Tenacity
MSP will continue to provide hope in a neighborhood where violence, poverty and instability are a part of everyday life. We won't give up until every human being has a place to call home.
10. Ending Homelessness
MSP will be constructing a state-of-the-art facility which will consist of 30 permanent supportive housing units, a day care center, a community room and office space. This new facility will provide affordable permanent housing for 30 families.
