Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful committed citizens can change the world.  Indeed, it’s the only thing that ever has.   Margaret Mead

Volunteers are always needed and welcome. All volunteers are required to fill out an application, attend an interview and sign a release for a background check. Please contact our Volunteer and Donations Coordinator, Tamara Wilson 860-549-1634 or via email - tawilson@sistersplacect.org. Please note that due to liability, we are unable to accept individual volunteers under the age of 18 and no longer accept volunteers in need of fulfilling Court Ordered Community Service.

  • Childcare: While our women attend Life Skills Classes and House Meetings, our Youth Worker plans activities and speakers for the children. Volunteers assist in these activities by helping to provide childcare. We look for a commitment of at least twice a month. Times available are: 1st and 3rd Mondays of the month, 5:45 pm - 7:15 pm and every Thursday of the month, 5:45 pm - 7:15 pm.

  • Shelter Meals: We rely on volunteers to provide dinner at our shelter by preparing a meal for sixteen off-site and deliver it to our shelter before 4 pm on the day it is to be served. This frees our staff to work with our women, rather than being occupied in the kitchen. Also, it helps to alleviate the stress on our budget. This is a wonderful opportunity for individuals, families, and groups to do on a one-time or regular basis. Please contact our Volunteer and Donations Coordinator, Celia Tvrdik at 860-549-1634 or via email -  celiat@sistersplacect.org. for our running schedule.

  • Administrative and Donations: During the week, we look for help with the administrative and donations side of our agency. With our small staff, we require assistance with filing, mailings, data entry, sorting and inventorying donations and preparing apartments for new clients. We do look for a regular commitment during office hours for this opportunity

  • Run A Drive: Organize your office, school group, church group, neighborhood, or friends to run a drive collecting some of most-needed items from our wish list or run one of the themed drives below.  Please contact our Volunteer and Donations Coordinator for our current needs and to arrange delivery.
